If you want to learn why your electricity costs are so high, then it would be a good idea to ask yourself if you are using energy saving appliances or leaving appliances turned on unnecessarily. The more you use your heating during the winter season, the more energy your home uses to keep warm. So, when you don’t use any type of renewable energy during the winter season, you use more energy, thus increasing your monthly electric bill.

Another reason why you’re experiencing an extremely high electricity bill is because of your insulation. If your home isn’t well insulated, you could easily be losing all of that lovely heat you’re paying for as it seeps out of window cracks and underneath doors, for example. Loft insulation is key as heat rises and you don’t it escaping through your roof space. The more heat you can keep inside your home, the less time it will take to reach a comfortable temperature inside, which in turn reduces the amount of time you need to have your heating on.
