Trailers are an excellent way of moving large items.  They can easily be attached to the rear of a car as long as you have a towbar added.  However they do bring certain responsibilities when driving with the attached weight.  The extra weight that a trailer and it’s cargo brings can cause disruption to your normal driving pattern.  Therefore you have to make allowances for the extra weight and drive accordingly.  Here are a few tips on what you can do that will make it easier. In the first instance you must make sure that the trailer is attached correctly and securely.  The tow bar on the back of your car must also be rock solid.  Once you are confident that the trailer has been attached you can begin to move off.

Be aware that the size of the vehicle is increased by twice it’s length by the addition of a trailer.  You will not be able to drive in your normal way. Lower your speed limits accordingly.  Overtaking is not a possibility when you have a trailer at the rear of your car.  One of the hardest things to do is to reverse.   Don’t forget that whatever position the car is going backwards in, the trailer will go in the opposite direction.  You will need to be more aware of what is going on around you when you have a trailer attached and also make sure the contents of the  trailer are securely fastened.
