When a patient receives treatment with a particular drug, they may have an allergic reaction to that drug. This can be anything from a mild skin rash to serious medical problems that can affect the rest of the body. If you believe you are allergic to a certain type of drug, then you should contact your doctor to determine if there is an adverse reaction to the drug and to look for other ways to treat the problem. If your doctor determines that there is an adverse reaction to the drug you are currently taking, you will be advised to stop taking that drug and seek alternative treatment.

An adverse reaction to a drug is not something that can be predicted accurately. Some drugs have a certain time frame in which they will cause a certain side effect, and while you might not suffer any side effects right away, it could take weeks or even months for the side effects to become apparent.

This is why drugs go through extensive trials before coming to market. Find out more about what happens in Adaptive Phase 1 Studies at Richmond Pharmacology

If your doctor diagnoses an adverse reaction, then they will explain everything that is about to happen with your treatment. They will also explain what to do if there is an adverse reaction to the drug, so that you will be able to protect yourself from the serious problems that can result from a drug reaction. It is always important to be informed about what a drug reaction is, so that you will know what to do if you ever have a problem caused by a side effect of a medication.
