Make Sure you Look After your Garden this Winter

Our gardens are a fantastic place to relax and unwind in the summer months, but don’t make the mistake of neglecting the garden over the winter. Here are a few things you can do to keep the garden looking its best ready for the spring and the return of the warmer weather!

Clear Out -Have a de-clutter, its not just something you do in the house! Get rid of things that may be past their best and can’t be salvaged – broken plant pots or rotten garden furniture for example. Also check your flowerbeds and cut away dead parts of plants at this time of the year and look for any insect eggs or infestations that may cause problems, so you can deal with them now before they hatch!

Tidy Up – Having a garden tidy up is important to make sure you stay on top of things – clear up fallen leaves, sharpen tools and maintain and mend garden equipment like lawnmowers with Briggs and Stratton parts from Briggs Bits. Move any furniture from outside to somewhere indoors where it will be protected over the winter.

Protect Plants – If the weather turns cold, it is a good idea to keep plants that could be killed by frost or snow indoors or onto a greenhouse. You can also cover them over to keep them safe. Also keep an eye on young trees if you have any and put up a tree protector to stop animals damaging them.
