You may think that your home is safe, and you pay attention to safety. However, there are always times when a lapse in concentration or a lack of time for repair work means our homes might not being quite as burglar-safe as we like to think. Here are some areas to focus on:

Side & Back Gates

Vulnerable areas include both back and side gates where someone can sneak unnoticed. Homes that back onto alleyways or playing fields can also be exposed so installing additional measures will provide extra peace of mind.

Garages

Most opportunistic thieves do not even have to work very hard. They often go directly into the property through open windows and garage doors! If you want to keep the window open in the nice weather, then think about locking screens. Make sure that your garage door is sturdy and has a good locking mechanism. A weak door can be forced to gain entry and if your garage door is old or in disrepair then it is even more vulnerable to someone attempting to gain access. Windows

Windows are often overlooked by homeowners as we tend to focus on whether the door is locked. Even if we remember to close them before going out or going to bed, do we lock them? It is important to repair or replace any damaged frames. If that is not possible then invest in improving the locks that can be clearly seen from the outside to deter would-be thieves.
