If you have recently moved into one of the Gloucestershire Park Homes that are available from Park Home Life and you want to make the most of the garden space that you have available to you, you will want to keep an eye out for some common pests that can affect your grass.

One of the most common pest infestations in grass is ants, also known as carpenter ants, or simply carpenter ants. They love to eat plants – both fruits and vegetables. This means that if you have a garden with fruit trees, which have long roots down deep into the ground, then you are going to want to make sure you take your plants away for a while, and replant them with plants that don’t have deep roots. You might also consider removing the tree completely and then planting the ground beneath it, so that you create an organic fence which will repel ants from your lawn.

Another common pest found in gardens and lawns is weed growth. This means that if your grass has weeds growing up towards your plants, then you’ll need to pull those plants. Keep in mind that you should never pull out entire plants – only choose to remove the leaf that is in close proximity to the grass and plants that are growing there. Pests like spider mites are attracted to plants that have their roots down below the surface, so you’ll want to keep your plants above the ground. Spider mites are very hard to get rid of once they are established.
