As we increasingly turn towards greener forms of fuel there is a real possibility that the days of the 24 hour petrol station might start to be a thing of the past. Whilst this is not going to happen overnight, petrol and diesel cars still outweigh electric in terms of sales and manufacture, the question has to be asked. In many cases, independent petrol stations are already falling away due to the increased cost of fuel making it difficult to compete against supermarkets. Others, such as those in small towns and villages, have become obsolete as roads are changed and the village bypassed.

It is not a simple task of demolishing the site and building something new. There is the small matter, or rather large matter, of the oil tank. This is where Oil tank decommissioning from http://www.ashremediation.co.uk/tank-decommissioning/ comes in. It is a complicated process of either removing or filling in the tank to ensure no waste oil or petrol escape into the atmosphere or soil.

When the site is clear the options are endless. Some examples have seen the site turned into a playground or much needed residential housing. Given the location, there is a huge retail opportunity with the site converted to a coffee shop or local farm shop.
