Want to go hiking? Here are the basics

Hiking and walking is one of the best ways that you can keep yourself fit, and happy both physically and mentally. However, it’s not just a simple case of getting in the car, driving to the countryside and just wandering about. You do need to be a little prepared and here is a short list of things that you’ll need just to start.

  1. A good pair of walking shoes or boots. It can be a bit rough out there but also you’ll be spending a lot of time on your poor old feet. Therefore they need a fair bit of protection. Regular shoes and trainers will not fit the bill here and you need to have some proper walking gear on to keep the blisters at bay.
  2. Underneath those boots and shoes you will also need a good pair of socks to keep things snug. Thin dress and regular socks are next useless plus you’ll soon have holes in them Hiking Socks Ireland, England, Scotland or Wales are an absolute must.
  3. Keeping yourself warm and dry is also very important. Therefore you need a good packable coat or jacket  to keep out the chill or the deluge that the Great British weather, whatever the season can bring.

  1. Rucksack. A Rucksack is next. You will need a handy place for all the drinks and snacks and the map that you need. In case we get a nice day you’ll also need somewhere to store the packable jacket.
